Emotional Literacy & Being Exercises

Originally created for actors, this body of work offers profound medicine for anyone on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and embodied presence.

Through the practice of Being Exercises, we are invited to move beyond societal performance—beyond the masks, the roles, and the conditioned responses—and into contact with what is real within us.

At the heart of emotional literacy is the practice of Being—learning to inhabit our present-moment truth with honesty and clarity. In a world that rewards performance and projection, this work is radical. It calls us back to the unfiltered self, where emotion, intuition, and breath flow freely. As we learn to drop into our inner landscape without judgment, we deepen our self-awareness and reconnect with the voice beneath the noise.

Rather than suppressing emotion, we learn to make space for it—to honor it as sacred data. Whether grief, rage, tenderness, or ecstasy, each feeling becomes a doorway to deeper intimacy with ourselves. As we allow these energies to move, transmute, and inform us, we become more available to life itself.

When we clear the inner static and return to being, something magical happens: our creativity begins to rise—not as a performance, but as a spontaneous outpouring of soul. Emotional literacy practice trains us to trust this impulse. To follow it. To speak, move, feel, and act from the deepest truth within us. This is the essence of embodiment. This is living artfully.
